The world’s largest fast-food chain revealed that cybercriminals had attacked it
McDonald’s stated earlier today that a data breach in South
Korea and Taiwan exposed customer and employee information, making the latest
company with a global presence targeted by hackers.
After an investigation conducted by external consultants
following an unauthorized activity on the company’s network, the details of the
breach in the two countries surfaced. According to McDonald’s, the company was
able to close off access quickly after identification.
McDonald’s stated that it would use the findings from the
investigation as tools to identify ways to improve its security measures.
Moreover, regulators and customers listed in the files will be notified.
The news didn’t influence the market; McDonald’s stock price
trading more than 1% higher.
