Weekly unemployment claims fell more than expected
According to the latest report from the US Department of
Labor, 730,000 people were left without a job in the past week, less than the
828,000 estimated. It was the first time in seven weeks when the figures did
not surpass the 800,000 mark.
Also, the US Department of Commerce revealed the second
reading for the fourth-quarter gross domestic product. In the last three months
of 2020, the GDP expanded 4.1%, falling short of the 4.2% consensus.
The American indices did not react positively to these
reports, with USA30
losing 0.02% and USA500
trading 0.42% lower in the premarket session.
