The airline considers more cuts to its schedule
According to the flight-tracking website FlightAware, one of
the largest US airlines, cancelled more than 2,000 since Saturday. Southwest Air
initially cancelled 1,124 flights on Sunday – or 30% of its schedule, to which
there were added another 347 on Monday.
The latest move came after Southwest announced it would adjust
its fall schedule to avoid cancellations and delays that it encountered during
the summer. Currently, the company is considering whether or not it needs to
cut more.
Airline’s president Mike Van de Ven stated: “We’ve already
made significant reductions from our previously published November and December
schedules, and if we think we need to do more, we will.”
At the moment of writing, Southwest stock price was trading
2.31% lower.
