About Discord
Discord was founded in 2015 with the goal of solving 'discord in the gaming community' after its CEO Jason Citron found how difficult it was to communicate with his teammates while playing video games. The company offers a digital platform that allows communication using VoIP, private messaging, video & voice calls, and play. Discord is supported by Windows, iOS, Android, Xbox, and PlayStation, with 150 million active users as of 2021.
The use of the platform surged in the past years, as the pandemic-induced lockdowns made people turn to Discord to stay connected for classes, gaming, and other virtual gatherings.
