The expansion could signal an investment in the British creative segment
Successful productions mean successful production companies.
So it seems to be the case of the American producer and online streaming
network, Netflix.
Netflix announced that it would expand its London offices threefold after the series of
successful shows such as "The Crown" and "Sex Education."
The offices will be in London's West End in the Copyright Building. The current
location is near Oxford Circus. This move "will ensure that we can better
serve our members and the local creative community, including investing in
stories like 'The Crown,' 'Sex Education,' 'Rebecca' and 'Too Hot To Handle,'
that are made in the U.K. and watched by the world."
Through this expansion, more jobs are expected to be
created. There are currently 269 people employed by Netflix in the U.K. Also,
more than 50 productions have been made in the past year.
Netflix seems to be on a roll now more than ever, given the
pandemic. Since the beginning of the year, its stock price went up 64%, and 16
million people opened accounts during Q1.
Currently, Netflix's stock price is up 1.27%.
