Higher-than-expected NFP in October

The NFP gains ground while the unemployment rate is getting lower

The latest non-farm payrolls report released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics was like a breath of fresh air as it came after yesterday’s unemployment claims.

For October, the American job sector gained 638,000 news openings, topping the 595,000 consensus. Along with the NFP came the unemployment rate, which showed an improvement. The rate dropped to 6.9% from a previous 7.9%.

Since May, 12 million jobs have been recovered, but there are 10 million more people who are looking for employment.

The American benchmarks traded lower between 0.2% - 0.7%.
