NU Holdings (Nubank) is the world’s largest digital bank by the number of total customers. Based in Sao Paolo, Brazil, the company provides digital credit cards, payments, and transfers to clients in Latin America.
Notable Nubank investors: Berkshire Hathaway, Sequoia Capital, Founders Fund, Kaszek Ventures, Tiger Global Management, Goldman Sachs, QED Investors and DST Global.
The first transaction with a Nubank card took place on April 1, 2014. In 2018, Nubank surpassed $1 billion in market value. In the same year, Nubank launched its first financial product, an international Mastercard credit card manageable through the company’s app.
In 2020, Nubank purchased Plataformatec, a software engineering company, and Easyinvest, a Brazilian investment broker.
